Etymology[]
- Roary is derived from "Roar" and is a play off of the name "Rory".
- Vociferio is a derived from "vociferar" (vociferate).
- Vociféro derives from "Vociférer" (Vociferate).
Origin[]
Roary, like Mumbles, is based on Agyou of the Nio, wrathful deities of East Asian Buddhism whose statues are usually placed at the entrance of temples. Both are manifestations of Vajrapani ("he who holds the vajra"), the Mahayana Buddhist deity who protects the Buddha and symbolizes his power. Agyou is depicted with an open mouth, voicing the syllable "a" (representing life, the beginning of creation) and his teeth bared, while either holding a vajra club or raising a clenched fist. His image symbolizes aggression and overt violence.
Trivia[]
- Roary does not have his real life medal counterpart.
