Teastroyer (Japanese: ぶんぶく茶ヶ丸 Bunbuku Chagamaru) is a Boss Yo-kai.

Biology

He is a red tanuki with a similar color scheme to Jibanyan. He wears a tea kettle with a huge bell strapped to it. He also wears a leaf on his head. He has 3 tails with flames like most dog and cat Yo-kai. He mostly sticks out his tongue. He has black rings around his eyes.

When posing as Jibanyan, his dark circles are visible as well as his dog-like tail. He tends to still stick his tongue out even as a cat.

He is able to shapeshift into anything in general as well as objects in the background that show his features such as the following: the television showing his tail, the dresser having his torso pattern, the lamp taking shape of his giant bell, the portrait of the kitsune changing into a tanuki, the giant vase or the statue above the television having a tail, and the little round tea kettle having a leaf on top. He spams lightning attacks upon successfully hiding from the player in the background.

Teastoyer's distinct expression as Jibanyan

When doing the sidequest, he poses as Jibanyan with his distinctive dark circles around his eyes and his dog-like tails. He then tries to make Nate/Katie buy bread for him, believing He's the real Jibanyan. Ironically Nate/Katie still can't tell the difference despite Jibanyan literally pointing Teastroyer's distinct features. After a short scene with Komasan and Jibanyan, his real identity is revealed. He is the only one capable of fusing Jibanyan and Komasan to create Jibakoma. His base level is 65.

Etymology

Origin

This Yo-kai is based on the Tanuki (Japanese: Tanuki), a notorious shapeshifter who often transforms to cause mischief onto humans, though Bunbuku Chagamaru is more specifically based on the Bunbuku Chagama fairy tale, in which a tanuki is rescued from a trap by a poor man, and uses his shapeshifting powers to turn into a cast-iron tea kettle (Japanese: 茶釜 Chagama) to repay him for his kindness.

The giant golden bell he wears, on the other hand, is a representation of one of the tanuki's signature traits, their over-sized testicles (Japanese: 金玉 kintama), which they sometimes use like drums or even shapeshift into various things. Their testicles are part of their 8 lucky traits, with the other seven being: a kasa hat; a promissory note; a sake gourd; a big fluffy tail; big round eyes; a round belly; and a winsome smile
