Techniques (Japanese: ようじゅつ Yōjutsu) are one of the four types of moves Yo-kai can use in the video games.
Contrary to Attacks, Techniques will always deal attribute-based damage, with the damage output being based on that Yo-kai's Spirit stat. The only non-offensive Techniques are Restoration-attribute Techniques, which instead target allies and heal HP. Yo-kai with a Logical or Brainy attitude are more likely to select their Technique during battles, however those attitudes only work on Yo-kai with offensive Techniques, to make Restoration-attribute Yo-kai more likely to use their Technique during battles they must have a Gentle or Tender attitude.
There are in total three Techniques for each attribute, with a starting power of 20, 50 and 80, respectively. Using Top Techniques will increase a Technique's power, until it reaches the Level Up cap of 10. While Yo-kai naturally increase their Technique damage, the process is slow and requires a lot of battles to reach that far.
In Yo-kai Watch 3, damage done by techniques is completely unaffected by the defending Yo-kai's defense stat, so Yo-kai hit by a technique will have their defense ignored. It is unknown if this is true for Yo-kai Watch or Yo-kai Watch 2.

Trivia[]
- Like their physical counterpart, certain Skills some Yo-kai possess are naturally able to affect Techniques.
- There are the Elemental Play Skills, which boost that respective element's Technique damage (e.g., Fire Play raises Fire Technique damage). There are also the defensive variations, which reduces that respective element's Technique damage (e.g., Fire Watchout reduces Fire Technique damage)
- The metallic-hued Guard Skills (Bronze Guard, Silver Guard, etc.) reduce the damage of two different elemental Techniques (e.g., Bronze Guard reduces Earth & Wind Technique damage).
